Advice
Leeds is a partnership of independent advice providers in Leeds,
working together to:
Improve access to free and independent advice
in Leeds
Influence social and economic policy developments affecting clients
at local and national level
Our focus is on providing advice in social welfare law to local
people in the most need.
The main areas of advice are Welfare Benefits, Debt, Employment,
Housing, Immigration and Community Care.
Access to free, independent and quality advice provides an important
lifeline for many people who are experiencing the effects of poverty
and social injustice.
By working in partnership the members of Advice Leeds believe that
we can make the most of existing resources and secure new funding
to increase advice services.
The
Advice Leeds Partnership has secured a five-year grant from the
Big Lottery Fund to develop five key areas of work:
NVQ accredited training programme for 150 new volunteer advisers
Training for support workers on key areas of advice and national
and local sources of advice
Development of a referral system between advice agencies in Leeds
and a referral gateway for support workers
Coordination of advice work and development of an advice strategy
for Leeds
Joint campaigns to influence social and economic developments
